Warranty Policy Overview
1. Warranty Coverage Periods
1.1 Projects Under $10,000 CAD
All projects with a final contract value of less than $10,000 CAD are covered by a one (1) year limited workmanship warranty.
Warranty coverage begins on the date of substantial completion, defined as the point at which the work is sufficiently finished to allow the Client to reasonably use the renovated or constructed area for its intended purpose, regardless of minor outstanding details or “punch-list” items.
The one-year period applies whether the project consists of a single service (e.g., painting, flooring, tiling) or multiple smaller services bundled under one contract.
1.2 Projects $10,000 CAD or Greater
All projects with a final contract value equal to or exceeding $10,000 CAD are covered by a two (2) year limited workmanship warranty.
Coverage begins at substantial completion as defined above.
This extended warranty reflects our commitment to larger, more complex projects and provides additional assurance to Clients making significant investments in their property.
1.3 Phased or Multi-Stage Projects
If a project is completed in phases under separate contracts, the warranty period for each phase will be calculated independently, beginning on the substantial completion date of that phase.
For projects completed under a single master contract with multiple milestones, the warranty period will begin at the substantial completion of the entire contract scope, unless otherwise specified in writing.
1.4 Warranty Period Clarification
Warranty coverage is linked to the total final contract value, not to individual components, partial invoices, or service categories. For example:
If a Client hires Purewall Renovations to perform $4,000 of tiling and $7,000 of carpentry under one combined $11,000 contract, the entire project is covered for two years, not split into separate warranties.
If the same services were performed under two separate contracts ($4,000 and $7,000), each contract would carry a one-year warranty independently.
2. Scope of Warranty Coverage
2.1 Workmanship Protection
This warranty covers defects directly attributable to workmanship performed by Purewall Renovations. Examples include, but are not limited to:
Flooring that was improperly installed and begins separating, warping, or lifting.
Tiles detaching or grout cracking prematurely due to incorrect installation methods.
Structural carpentry errors such as framing failures, misaligned doors, or cabinetry not properly secured.
Paint peeling, blistering, or premature failure caused by insufficient preparation or improper application.
Drywall or plaster joints failing due to poor taping, sanding, or finishing.
2.2 Code Compliance
Work found to be in violation of applicable Ontario Building Code requirements at the time of completion will be corrected under warranty at no additional cost to the Client.
2.3 Functional Integrity
The warranty ensures that all workmanship completed by Purewall Renovations will perform its intended function for the duration of the warranty period under normal use conditions.
3. Exclusions from Warranty
3.1 Normal Wear and Tear
The warranty does not cover deterioration that occurs as part of the normal aging process of materials and finishes. Examples include:
Natural fading or discoloration of paint or stain over time.
Hairline cracks in plaster, drywall, or grout due to normal settling.
Slight gapping or shifting of wood due to seasonal humidity changes.
3.2 Client Neglect or Misuse
The warranty is void if damage arises from improper use or lack of reasonable maintenance by the Client. This includes:
Failure to properly ventilate bathrooms or kitchens, leading to mold growth.
Use of harsh chemicals or improper cleaning methods that damage surfaces.
Water damage caused by leaving areas unsealed, exposed, or improperly cared for.
3.3 Third-Party Work or Alterations
Work performed by contractors or individuals not hired by Purewall Renovations is excluded.
Modifications, repairs, or alterations made by others after project completion void the warranty for affected areas.
3.4 Client-Supplied Materials
Materials, fixtures, or finishes supplied by the Client are not covered.
If defective materials provided by the Client cause issues (e.g., low-quality flooring, faulty plumbing fixtures), the Client must seek remedies through the supplier.
3.5 Environmental and External Factors
The warranty does not cover damage caused by factors outside Purewall Renovations’ control, such as:
Natural disasters (floods, storms, earthquakes, fire).
Accidents, vandalism, or misuse by occupants or visitors.
Structural deficiencies in the existing building unrelated to our work.
3.6 Manufacturer Defects
Any product or material covered by a manufacturer warranty (e.g., flooring, windows, appliances) is excluded from this workmanship warranty.
Clients must contact the manufacturer directly for claims.
4. Materials and Manufacturer Warranties
4.1 Separate Manufacturer Coverage
Many products (such as tiles, flooring, cabinetry, windows, and fixtures) include manufacturer warranties independent of Purewall Renovations.
These warranties may extend beyond our workmanship coverage and are governed by the manufacturer’s terms.
4.2 Responsibility of Registration
It is the Client’s responsibility to register manufacturer warranties where required (e.g., flooring products that require online registration within 30 days).
Failure to register may void manufacturer coverage.
4.3 Proof of Purchase
Upon request, Purewall Renovations will provide invoices, receipts, or proof of purchase for materials purchased on the Client’s behalf, to assist in pursuing manufacturer claims.
4.4 Manufacturer-Related Repairs
If a manufacturer defect is discovered, Purewall Renovations may, at its discretion, assist in coordinating claims or reinstalling replacement products, but labor for reinstallations may be billed separately unless expressly covered by the manufacturer.
5. Conditions for Warranty Validity
5.1 Payment in Full
Warranty coverage is valid only if the Client has paid all amounts due under the project contract. Outstanding or overdue balances automatically void warranty rights until resolved.
5.2 Non-Transferability
This warranty applies only to the original Client and the property where the work was completed. It is non-transferable if the property is sold or ownership changes.
5.3 Reasonable Maintenance
The Client must exercise reasonable care and maintenance of the renovated areas. Failure to maintain may void the warranty. Examples of reasonable maintenance include:
Re-caulking joints in wet areas such as showers or sinks.
Cleaning surfaces with appropriate, non-abrasive products.
Ensuring adequate ventilation in bathrooms and kitchens.
Protecting flooring with pads, mats, or sealants as applicable.
5.4 Proper Use of Property
The warranty is void if the property is used for purposes significantly different from its intended design (e.g., converting residential property into commercial use without proper upgrades).
5.5 Timely Notification of Issues
Clients must notify Purewall Renovations of suspected defects within 30 days of discovery. Failure to provide timely notice may void coverage if the issue worsens as a result of neglect.
6. Warranty Claim Process
6.1 Filing a Claim
All warranty claims must be submitted in writing by the Client.
Claims can be submitted by:

Mail: To the principal office address of Purewall Renovations (provided in your signed contract).

Purewall Renovations will acknowledge receipt of a claim within 5 business days.
An inspection will be scheduled within 15 business days or sooner if the issue is urgent.
In emergency cases (e.g., safety hazard), response will be expedited.
6.3 Inspection and Verification
A representative will conduct an on-site inspection to verify the validity of the claim.
Purewall Renovations reserves the right to:
Take photographs, measurements, or samples.
Consult independent experts (e.g., engineers, material specialists) if necessary.
Clients must provide reasonable access for inspection. Refusal to allow access may void the warranty claim.
6.4 Determination of Coverage
After inspection, Purewall Renovations will issue a written determination stating:
Whether the issue is covered under warranty.
The scope of corrective action to be taken (repair, replacement, or alternative remedy).
The anticipated timeline for corrective work.
If the claim is denied, reasons will be provided in writing.
6.5 Corrective Action
Purewall Renovations will, at its discretion, decide whether to:
Repair the defective portion of the work.
Replace the defective portion of the work.
Provide an alternative solution of equal quality and value.
Corrective work will be scheduled within a reasonable time frame, subject to material and labor availability.
6.6 Client Cooperation
The Client must make the property accessible for corrective work during regular working hours.
The Client must move or protect furniture, valuables, and personal items as requested.
Delays caused by Client inaccessibility or lack of cooperation may void the warranty obligation.
6.7 No Extension of Warranty
Corrective work performed under this warranty does not restart or extend the original warranty period. The original one- or two-year coverage timeline remains in effect.
7. Limitations of Warranty
7.1 Scope of Responsibility
This warranty is limited to defects arising solely from the workmanship of Purewall Renovations.
It does not apply to defects in design, unless Purewall Renovations was contractually responsible for both design and construction.
7.2 Monetary Limitations
Purewall Renovations’ total liability under this warranty is capped at the total contract price paid by the Client.
Clients may not recover additional damages for loss of income, temporary relocation, rental loss, inconvenience, or business interruption.
7.3 Exclusion of Implied Warranties
Except as expressly stated in this Warranty Policy, Purewall Renovations disclaims any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for purpose, or habitability.
7.4 Consequential Damages
Purewall Renovations is not responsible for consequential, incidental, or indirect damages.
Examples of excluded damages include (but are not limited to):
Costs incurred by the Client to hire alternative contractors.
Costs of temporary accommodation during repair.
Loss of business revenue due to delays.
7.5 Force Majeure Events
Warranty coverage is void for damages caused by events beyond Purewall Renovations’ reasonable control, including:
Floods, storms, earthquakes, or fires.
Pandemics, epidemics, or public health orders.
Material shortages, supply chain interruptions, or transportation delays.
Acts of vandalism, theft, or terrorism.
7.6 Maintenance and Care by Client
The Client is responsible for maintaining the renovated areas in a reasonable manner.
Failure to perform reasonable maintenance (e.g., re-caulking, cleaning, ventilation) voids warranty coverage.
Purewall Renovations may require evidence of maintenance when reviewing claims.
8. Additional Notes
8.1 Basis of Warranty Coverage
Warranty periods (1 year for projects under $10k, 2 years for projects $10k and above) are determined by the final contract value, not by individual line items, invoices, or phases.
8.2 Phased Projects
For projects delivered in distinct stages under separate contracts, each stage is independently covered.
For projects under a single master contract, coverage begins at substantial completion of the entire contract scope, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
8.3 Transferability
This warranty is valid only for the original Client and applies exclusively to the property address where the work was performed.
It is non-transferable in the event the property is sold or ownership changes.
8.4 Effect of Repairs on Warranty Period
Any repair performed under this warranty does not create a new warranty period.
The warranty period remains tied to the original substantial completion date.
8.5 Alignment with Ontario Standards
This Warranty Policy is intended to comply with the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, the Ontario Building Code, and industry best practices.
In the event of conflict between this Warranty Policy and applicable Ontario law, the provisions of Ontario law shall prevail.
